Vaccines in brief

The first vaccine was developed by Edward Jenner and therefore he is called Father of Vaccinology

Louis Pasteur explained the principle of vaccination

Vaccine should be cheap, safe, activate humoral and cell mediated immune response, and should provide long lasting protection.

The live type of vaccine contains  weakened form of pathogenic organisms which has lost its pathogenecity

In dead type of vaccine, it carries killed form of pathogenic organisms

Toxoid vaccine corries inactive form of bacterial toxins

Subunit or conjugate type of vaccine contains partial parts of pathogenic bacteria

Adjuvants are the chemical ingredients of vaccines that increase its efficiency

Adjuvants enhances the immunopathogenecity of weak antigens
